Fofana
Fofana Mathieu is an Ivorian painter born in November 2002 in Divo (Côte D'Ivoire). He holds a BTA in painting from the Centre Technique des Arts Appliqués de Bingerville (CTAA) in 2022. Always seeking to learn, he continued his studies at the Institut National Supérieur des Arts et de l'Action Culturelle (INSAAC), where he obtained his degree in painting in 2025.
His work revolves around the theme of aging, viewed as a universal and inevitable experience. He depicts portraits and scenes of elderly people.
His artistic approach focuses particularly on the textures and chromatics of aging surfaces, which, under his brush, become true plastic landscapes. He favors a palette of dull and mature colors. This chromatic range forms the core of his visual language. He also uses materials such as coffee and earth, which allow him to achieve rather original and unique textures and color effects.
Fofana's artistic vision goes beyond a simple representation of elderly people. It becomes a tool for social awareness, reminding us that no one is eternal, and shows that old age is not a weakness or an end in itself, but an accomplishment, a victory. To show the beauty in old age.
