Diomande
Diomandé Assane Achille, born on May 2, 1999, in Bouaké, Côte d'Ivoire, is an Ivorian visual artist. A graduate of his hometown's classical high school, where he earned a scientific baccalaureate, he continued his higher education at the Beaux-Arts of Abidjan, graduating in plastic arts in 2023.
He is an artist passionate about exploring character representations through a metaphysical approach. His work aims to capture the essence and spiritual depth of characters, while inviting the viewer to reflect on metaphysical concepts.
His artistic practice is deeply influenced by his relationship with his uncle; the latter's presence in his life was an invaluable source of inspiration. Following his uncle's death, Assane began having dreams in which his uncle appeared as a beam of light, a metaphor for the spiritual connection they shared. These visions fuel his creativity and push him to explore themes of light and transcendence in his art.
Assane uses various means to represent his characters, including:
Symbolism: Each element in his works has a meaning that reinforces the message he wishes to convey.
Forms and Colors: He plays with forms and colors to evoke emotions and ideas rather than simply representing reality.
Interaction with the Environment: His characters interact with their surroundings, highlighting their inner state and spiritual quest.
Expressions and Postures: He captures moments of emotional intensity through characters' facial expressions and postures.
Visual Narration: His works tell stories, inviting the viewer to delve into a universe rich in metaphors and reflections.
His artistic goal is to create works that not only touch the hearts of viewers but also encourage them to explore their own spiritual and metaphysical experiences, and for his art to be a bridge between the visible and the invisible, a space for dialogue between art and spirituality.
